The festival, held at M-SParc in Gaerwen and partly funded by the Welsh Government’s Food & Drink Wales programme, brought together local producers, businesses and visitors for a day of food, live demonstrations, talks and family-friendly activities.
A highlight of the day was the second annual Egni Sustainability Awards, recognising businesses making a difference through local production, innovation, sustainable products and packaging.
Four businesses were recognised across this year’s awards categories:
Â
For the winners, the awards were a chance to celebrate the hard work that goes into building a business with sustainability at its heart.
Valerie Creusailor, Goch & Co
Sammi Rogers, Nogi
Ffion Jefferies, Y Cwt Mwg
Jadie Hurrell, Anglesey Soap
Alongside the awards, visitors enjoyed cooking demonstrations from Y Marram and Barrie Bros, live music from Sara Davies, and the chance to explore local food and drink.
The programme also featured talks from Geraint Hughes of Jones’ Crisps, Maggie Ogunbanwo of Maggie’s, Joan Edwards of BIC Innovation and Old Monty Cider, who discussed geographical indication (GI) products. Younger visitors could get involved with Sgil Sparc’s science-made ice cream and meet Gareth yr Orangutan during the festival’s treasure hunt and meet-and-greets.
Molly Jackson, M-SParc’s Low Carbon Innovation Officer and organiser of the festival, said the event had been a great success.

Tom used to work at the KFC in his hometown of Colwyn Bay before it mysteriously burned down. He then spent several years “on the lam” in East Germany, where he worked as an animator in Berlin. When the wall fell, Tom came home.
He enjoys climbing and hates ice-skating.
