Hogan raises the bar

As M-SParc’s business support officer, I am constantly championing our tenant companies that are pushing the boundaries and embracing innovation. One such tenant company that is truly setting the bar high is The Hogan Group, a Construction Materials and Highway Maintenance Business.

The Hogan Group is a local established company that has been around for nearly 60 years, providing high quality construction materials and services to the Welsh Government, Local Authorities, PLC and Local businesses, and the wider community. However, in recent years the company has undergone a major transformation and embraced technology in a big way. They have developed two new platforms that will help revolutionise the way HSQE (Health, safety, quality and environment) is managed within the industry.

The first platform is an app designed to monitor work on mobile and static construction sites. The app provides real-time updates on progress, as well as a centralised location for all Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental documents. This ensures that the company’s people have access to the information they need, when they need it, reducing risk and increasing efficiency.

The second platform is a system to track the carbon footprint of the company. With the world’s focus on reducing carbon emissions,  The Hogan Group is leading the way in the construction materials industry by taking a proactive approach to sustainability. By tracking their carbon footprint, the company can identify areas where they are able to reduce emissions, improve their supply chain emission and continue to make positive steps towards being a more environmentally friendly business.

The transformation of The Hogan Group from a Materials and Highway Maintenance business to a technology-focused business is a testament to their continual commitment to innovation, continual improvement, and their willingness to adapt to the changing needs of doing business. Embracing technology and taking a proactive approach to sustainability, The Hogan Group is positioning itself as a leader in their industry and is setting an example for others to follow.

I am proud to celebrate the innovative spirit of The Hogan Group and the pivotal transformation they have undergone, post-covid. Their development of these two platforms is a true celebration of innovation coming out of what is generally a conservative industry and serves as a reminder of the importance of embracing change and pushing the boundaries of what is possible.

Well done The Hogan Group! We look forward to seeing what other innovative solutions you will bring to the construction industry in the future.

Tom used to work at the KFC in his hometown of Colwyn Bay before it mysteriously burned down. He then spent several years “on the lam” in East Germany, where he worked as an animator in Berlin. When the wall fell, Tom came home.

He enjoys climbing and hates ice-skating.
