Lucy Farrar takes full advantage of the Ffiws maker space in Colwyn Bay!

Charlie Jones

Lucy is a retired Design and Technology teacher who has been calling in to our Colwyn Bay #OnTour location most days in order to set up her business; Sheep Creations. Lucy is a Colwyn Bay area local and proud Welsh woman, she’s also a student of Christian theology (did you know that sheep are the most mentioned animal in the bible?!?)

On her website, Lucy states that none of her products are wholly created by sheep, although as a child her daughter set up her own business called ‘Sheep Creations’ so Lucy took the name. It was not copyrighted after all!

After spending years making crafts as a hobby, Lucy saw the #OnTour location as a perfect opportunity for her to take the leap and start her own business. With support from the Enterprise Hub, Lucy received the advice and knowledge she needed to kickstart her self-employment journey.

Lucy says that she feels “So lucky to have this facility on my doorstep!”, she has been selling a variety of items that she has created in Ffiws from mugs to baby clothes and t-shirts, along with other items she has been experimenting with.

Ffiws has become a familiar location for Lucy, after being inducted on the machines and using them on a regular basis. She is now proficient and confident in using all the machinery while attending our #OnTour locations, Lucy has also had the chance to test trade at the front of our Colwyn Bay shop for free, showcasing and selling her products.

Ben Roberts our #OnTour Manager for M-SParc says “it’s been great to see Lucy coming in most days seeing her use the Ffiws maker space, she has grown in both confidence and creativity. At M-SParc we are proud to be able to support and guide new businesses on their journey”

Lucy has taking this even further by running a couple of craft fairs alongside Siwan Jones (Swyno Books) and Steve Willis (Steve Willis Art) in both the Colwyn Bay and Bangor #OnTour locations.

After starting her creative business Lucy has had to get to grips with her social media and has been attending M-SParc events to help gain further knowledge to assist with promoting her business further.

Everything Lucy creates is unique and made individually, if you are looking for a gift for a certain someone or a special occasion be sure to get in touch with her! You can find and buy Lucy’s products through her website here: https://www.sheep-creations.co.uk or by following her social media pages @sheepcreations. You will also most likely find Lucy popping in and out of our Colwyn Bay #OnTour location.
