The Offshore Energy Alliance (OEA) is a cross-sectoral, cross-regional alliance that aims to bring together key parties from across North Wales and the North West of England for the benefit of local businesses and others. The cluster ‘flies the flag’ for the region in a collaborative way, raising awareness of opportunities across a range of technologies and themes, with an end goal of achieving more prosperous coastal communities.
The cluster’s partners are working together to increase local benefit from energy projects in the region across the pillars of: business growth, infrastructure, innovation and skills.
The Egni team support the OEA as accountable body and secretariat for the cluster, working with businesses and helping with events, meetings and comms!
Morlais is Menter Môn’s tidal stream energy project. It manages an area of 35Km² of the seabed near Ynys Cybi (Holy Island), Ynys Môn (Anglesey). The scheme has the potential to generate up to 240MW of low carbon clean electricity.
The aim is to play a role in tackling climate change while delivering economic and social benefit to local communities and the wider region. As a local company this has been central to our vision from the outset.
The Egni team work closely to support the project, working closely with the Morlais team and also and sit on the supply chain and skills sub-groups.

Tom used to work at the KFC in his hometown of Colwyn Bay before it mysteriously burned down. He then spent several years “on the lam” in East Germany, where he worked as an animator in Berlin. When the wall fell, Tom came home.
He enjoys climbing and hates ice-skating.
