Since June 2026, M-SParc has been offering a new service for businesses, innovators, and entrepreneurs by opening a Patent Library to serve the region.
Across the UK, there is a network of Patent Libraries (PatLibs), and M-SParc is the UK’s 25th PatLib and the first in Anglesey, providing bilingual support and guidance to businesses, start-ups, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), researchers, and innovators throughout North Wales.
With trained Intellectual Property (IP) advisers, we can provide practical support and guidance on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), including patents, trademarks, copyright, and design protection.
This new provision comes at a time of increasing focus on innovation-led economic growth across North Wales, with growing opportunities emerging in intellectual property-rich sectors such as technology, energy, research, and advanced industries. The aim of the new PatLib service is to better protect, develop, and commercialise ideas locally, helping innovators understand how to safeguard and unlock the full value of their intellectual property within their organisations.
The North Wales Patent Library will also further strengthen M-SParc’s role as a hub for innovation, enterprise, and collaboration in North Wales, supporting organisations at every stage of their growth journey.

Tom used to work at the KFC in his hometown of Colwyn Bay before it mysteriously burned down. He then spent several years “on the lam” in East Germany, where he worked as an animator in Berlin. When the wall fell, Tom came home.
